How Can a Swollen Lymph Node In The Neck Be Treated?

I had a lump on my neck and had a ultrasound it was all clear nothing came up , but then I got my blood test result and it says ESR 29 , and above range . All other blood results were normal .
I am 34 year old woman , not prone to being ill , but prone to googling too much :)

Hello,
Thanks for trusting healthcaremagic!
I have gone through our query and I can understand your concerns.

Enlarged lymph node on neck generally suggest some kind of infection around it's draining region like oral cavity or scalp.
ESR is not that much high and this value indicates a mere infection.
I suggest you to consult a general practitioner and get the following thing done:-
(1)-A detailed examination of oral cavity to look for dental caries or oral ulcers which are the most common cause of swollen lymph node. Also we have to look for any lesions over the scalp like boils or infected dandruff. A throat examination to rule out tonsillitis is also needed.
(2)-A short course of antibiotic therapy for five to seven days can be started empirically to clear the infection.
(3)-If you have pain you can take analgesics like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
(4)Do gargling with chlorhexidine containing mouth wash or any other antiseptic mouthwash.
Most cases resolve with this supportive measures. If the swollen node remains for long despite all these and size is large we have to do a biopsy to rule out other diseases like tuberculosis or lymphoma.

Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
